The Department for Communities (DfC) has launched a competition to appoint a Chair to the Board of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

Competition to appoint the Chair to the Board of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive

This is an open competition and applications are welcome from a wide range of people with an interest in public service. Applications from women, ethnic minorities, young people and people with disabilities are particularly welcome.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead an important public body at a time of significant challenge and change. The Housing Executive delivers some critically important public services. It is one of the largest social housing landlords in the UK, managing just under 85,000 homes across Northern Ireland. It is also the regional strategic housing authority, responsible for a broad range of functions, duties and powers.

Its objectives are to deliver better homes, support independent living and build stronger communities, whilst delivering a quality service. Its work reaches across Northern Ireland, working with local communities and dealing with a vast range of complex and challenging issues. The Chair has a key role in using the available resources to meet these objectives and delivery of its many critical services, whilst also leading the organisation through a period of significant change through the Housing Executive Revitalisation Programme.

All applications for appointment are considered strictly on merit. The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 29 April 2022. A Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS) will be used. The aim of the GIS is to provide applicants with a disability the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities beyond the initial application stage.

Further information, including an application pack, can be obtained here or by e-mailing Public Appointments
